Bio

Daniela Guzmán Peña (she/her) is a fiction and creative non-fiction writer, journalist, and policy-focused researcher. She has studied creative writing through Granta, the Writing Salon, and Rob Summerlin’s writing workshop. She was granted the 2026 Essere Residency’s Special Fellowship for Emerging Voices.

As a journalist, she has reported on economy and government for Bloomberg in Latin America, corporate finance and banking on Wall Street, and investigations on financial crime for an industry publication, and general assignment for the Miami Herald. Since 2020, she has worked in research and partnerships roles at a foundation focused on economic opportunity for displaced people, and on researching trust and safety issues at a tech platform.

She is bilingual in English and Spanish, and speaks Brazilian Portuguese and French. She is originally from Bogotá, Colombia, was raised in South Florida, and currently lives in San Francisco.

She has worked in Brazil, Chile, Dominican Republic, Kosovo, Mexico, France, and the U.S.
